Job Title: Connection Pastor

Job Summary:
The Connection Pastor is responsible for fostering community and engagement within the church by overseeing and developing pathways for visitors, new members, and existing attendees to become connected, grow in their faith, and actively participate in church life. This role focuses on hospitality, small groups, volunteer coordination, and overall assimilation strategies to help individuals feel welcomed, valued, and integrated into the church community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assimilation & Engagement:
- Develop and implement systems to welcome, track, and follow up with first-time guests, ensuring a seamless process from visitor to active member.
- Oversee new member classes, orientation sessions, and connection events.
- Provide pastoral care and guidance to individuals exploring membership or involvement in church life.
- Volunteer Coordination:
- Recruit, train, and support volunteers for hospitality teams (greeters, ushers, welcome desk, etc.).
- Create clear pathways for attendees to discover their spiritual gifts and find serving opportunities within the church.
- Encourage a culture of volunteerism and equip leaders for effective ministry.
- Small Groups & Discipleship:
- Develop and oversee small group ministries to foster deeper relationships and spiritual growth.
- Identify, train, and support small group leaders.
- Ensure groups are aligned with the church’s mission and provide resources for growth and multiplication.
- Hospitality & First Impressions:
- Ensure a welcoming and friendly atmosphere at all church services and events.
- Evaluate and enhance the guest experience, including signage, communication, and follow-up processes.
- Coordinate special events aimed at connecting new individuals to the church community.
- Communication & Collaboration:
- Work closely with pastoral staff to align connection strategies with the church’s overall vision and mission.
- Communicate clearly with the congregation about connection opportunities through various platforms (bulletins, social media, announcements).
- Provide regular reports and updates on engagement metrics and volunteer involvement.
Qualifications:
- A deep and growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Bachelor's degree in ministry, theology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Previous pastoral experience or leadership in church assimilation, small groups, or volunteer coordination.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to inspire, recruit, and develop volunteer teams.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- A heart for hospitality and building relationships.
- Proficient in using church management software and communication tools.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with event planning and coordination.
- Background in pastoral counseling or discipleship.
- Creative approach to engaging and connecting people in diverse settings.
