Long-term objectives:   The Development Director, in conjunction with the Executive Director, is responsible for acquiring the resources necessary to sustain and grow the mission of Hope Life Center. This will be done through initiating and nurturing relationships with donors who make significant long term financial commitments, volunteers who give of their time and skills, communities who value and trust Hope Life Center, and churches who uphold the mission of Hope Life Center with prayer.


Short term objectives: Strengthen relationships with current donors and establish ongoing donor relationship nurturing practices to increase financial support base and reduce organization’s dependence on annual fundraisers.

Hours: Full Time

  18. Experience: A minimum of 2-5 years of donor-centered, relationship building experienced at a nonprofit. 


Special Conditions

Position requires evening and weekend hours for events and other meetings as required. Must have a privately owned vehicle, valid drivers license and liability insurance. Travel between pregnancy centers may be required. 

 

Job Functions*


Maintain frequent communication with Executive Director and other department heads to report ongoing Development Department information.

  1. Communicate with Executive Director regularly about donor and volunteer issues
  2. Guide preparation of Development activity reports and tracking of core metrics and present to Executive Director and other department heads
  3. Identify areas for improvement in Development strategy based on core metrics, and develop an action plan to address issues requiring improvement

 

Develop and implement ongoing donor relationship nurturing program and practices.

  1. Initiate and nurture key relationships (individuals, businesses, churches) to build significant, long-term financial commitments
  2. Develop and maintain schedule for all donor communications and engagement (phone calls, emails, mailings, events, etc.)
  3. Oversee development and maintenance of donor relationship management software

 

Build church engagement team that will encourage and enable churches and their members to invest in the work of Hope Life Center through giving, service, and prayer.

 

Build volunteer care team to manage volunteer staffing and acquisition for all departments. This team will:

  1. In conjunction with the Executive Director and other department heads, recruit volunteers to match the needs of the organization
  2. Ensure that all volunteers interested in serving at Hope Life Center are communicated with and brought through the volunteer application process
  3. After application process is completed, facilitate placement of volunteers in job function matching gifting and desire to serve
  4. Develop and maintain a follow-up schedule for current volunteers to assess their ability and satisfaction in their role
  5. Facilitate the transition of volunteers to new and/or additional roles when necessary

 

Manage Development Department staff and volunteers.

  1. Guide the day-to-day activities of the Development team
  2. Facilitate team communication
  3. Conduct performance planning meetings with each team member to: discover ways to capitalize on team member’s strengths as well as develop work-arounds for weaknesses, communicate and provide accountability and coaching for desired outcome, develop a professional development plan for each team member
